How to Apply for Pupillage and Mini-pupillage

Mini-pupillage

Applications for mini-pupillage are by CV and covering letter.  We do not have an application form. Applications should be sent either by post (clearly marked "Pupillage" on the envelope) or by email (marked "Pupillage" in the subject field) to our pupillage manager, Lyana Peniston. Her contact details can be found in the Contact Us page in this section.

We review applications on paper and invite selected candidates for a first interview. Those who impress at first interview are offered an assessed mini-pupillage at a time convenient to them. Once a candidate has completed an assessed mini-pupillage, all he or she needs to do is to apply through OLPAS.  Those who have performed strongly during assessed mini-pupillage will be short-listed for pupillage final interview in July.

Pupillage

Chambers is a member of OLPAS and all applications for funded pupillages (including deferred pupillages) must be made online at www.pupillages.com. Applications must be submitted during the "summer season", which usually runs from early March to late April each year. The relevant dates can be found on the OLPAS website.

If you have not applied for an assessed mini-pupillage prior to submitting your OLPAS application, you can do an assessed mini-pupillage after you have made your OLPAS application. Applicants for pupillage who have not previously applied for mini-pupillage will first be assessed for mini-pupillage. Once all candidates have been assessed for, and where appropriate have completed, a mini-pupillage, a shortlist will be drawn up for final interview in July, based on all of the information we have about that candidate (including his or her mini-pupillage performance and assessed work).

Offers to successful candidates will be made in accordance with the OLPAS timetable, typically in early August.
