Helen Davies QC
Helen Davies has extensive experience in all aspects of Commercial Litigation, EU and Competition Law, and has been identified as one of the leading practitioners in the Commercial Litigation, Competition/European, Arbitration, Energy and Insurance/Reinsurance fields by both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for many years.
Recent commercial work includes the £4 billion claim brought by Boris Berezovsky against Roman Abramovich for alleged intimidation and breach of trust, a £ 300 million claim relating to the purchase of a majority shareholding in the airline BMI and and various 'credit crunch' related disputes, including advising a major financial institition in relation to alleged misrepresentations in various offer documents.
She has also acted in a variety of energy related disputes, including most recently BP v Dolphin and Venture v Nuon, as well as advising in relation to the impact of new EU Iranian sanctions.
Recent EU/Competition cases include FA Premier League v Ofcom (appeal against Ofcom's decision to require BSkyB to offer its sports channels to its competitors on regulated terms), FAPL v QC Leisure (reference to ECJ in relation unauthorised use of satellite decoder cards), Barclays v Competition Commission (judicial review in respect of the Competition Commission's market investigation of payment protection insurance), R v Secretary of State for Business and Enterprise, ex p Merger Action Group (judicial review in respect of Lloyds/HBOS merger), and Virgin Media v BSkyB, relating to the supply of channels between those two companies. She is also acting in a number of major ongoing competition investigations.
Helen Davies has also acted for the OFT and private parties in a variety of UK and European consumer protection disputes, including most recently OFT v Foxtons.
