Brick Court heavyweight Mark Howard KC is preparing for a full-on summer, having been parachuted in to three high-stakes appeals over the next three months. A busy calendar shows just how in-demand Howard is, specifically from clients wanting to overturn judgments that have previously gone against them. But his advice comes with a hefty price tag. Acting for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Howard KC was purported to have charged a brief fee of £9m. The judgment went further, adding that “the fee charged by Nigeria’s leading counsel for the trial of the section 68 application was extraordinarily high”.
