Brick Court Chambers is delighted to announce that James McClelland and Tony Singla have been appointed Queen’s Counsel in the 2020 competition.
James McClelland (call 2004) has a wide-ranging practice specialising in public, commercial, and regulatory law. He has been nominated for both commercial litigation and banking and finance junior of the year at the Chambers UK Bar Awards and named as “one of the leading senior juniors in commercial litigation” (Legal 500) and “a rising star of the Commercial Bar” (Chambers and Partners). James’ public law practice is of equal depth. He is one of the Attorney General’s A Panel Counsel, appointed to conduct the most complex first instance and appellate advocacy for central government in all aspects of public law. In 2019 James was named by Finance Monthly as its UK public law lawyer of the year.
Tony Singla (call 2007) is widely recognised as one of the leading juniors at the Commercial Bar. In 2014 he was awarded Commercial Litigation Junior of the Year at the Chambers Bar Awards, in 2018 he was nominated by Legal 500 as Commercial Litigation Junior of the Year and as Competition Junior of the Year by Chambers & Partners, and in 2019 he was nominated as Insurance Junior of the Year by Chambers & Partners. In the Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 directories Tony is ranked as a leading junior in seven fields. He has been featured by The Lawyer in its “Hot 100” and by Chambers & Partners as one of the junior “Stars at the Bar”.
