Appointment of Deputy High Court Judges

Paul Bowen QC and Simon Birt QC have been appointed as Deputy High Court Judges. Their appointments will take effect on 1 October 2021. An announcement of their appointments is here.

The appointments followed an open competition by the Judicial Appointments Commission.

Paul will hear cases in the Queen’s Bench Division and the Family Division.

Simon will hear cases in the Queen’s Bench Division.

Paul and Simon will each sit in the High Court for around 30 days a year, and will also continue to practise full time from chambers.
