Eight members of Brick Court Chambers appear before the CJEU at the same hearing

Eight members of Brick Court appeared yesterday before the CJEU in Case C-547/14, a reference from the English High Court arising out of two claims brought by Philip Morris Ltd and British American Tobacco. The high-profile reference is concerned with the lawfulness of the Second Tobacco Products Directive (2014/40/EU).

Seven Member States of the European Union took the opportunity to appear before the Court and make submissions.Members of Brick Court were there in force, representing six different commercial entities from a range of European countries.

The Advocate General’s opinion will be delivered on 17 December.

Marie Demetriou QC, Martin Chamberlain QC, James Flynn QC, Andrew Henshaw QC, David Scannell, Daniel Piccinin, Tim Johnston and Jennifer MacLeod all appeared before the Court of Justice.
