IICSA Public Inquiry publishes report into Anglican Church

07/10/20

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse published its overarching Report into the Anglican Church on 6 October 2020.

The report follows a multi-year public inquiry into child protection and child sexual abuse within the Church of England and in a number of other institutional settings in the United Kingdom. The Inquiry held three hearings concerning the Church of England over six weeks in March 2018, July 2018 and July 2019. It heard evidence from the current and two former Archbishops of Canterbury, as well as a number of victims, survivors and safeguarding professionals. In May 2019 it published an interim report into events in the Diocese of Chichester and the case study of Peter Ball.

The October 2020 Report is here.

Tim Johnston appeared throughout the Inquiry for the Archbishops’ Council instructed by Herbert Smith Freehills.
