Jeremy Gauntlett SC appointed to panel of Arbitrators for new China-Africa Joint Arbitration Centre CAJAC

18/12/15

The China Law Society and the Arbitration Forum for Southern Africa have set up the China-Africa Joint Arbitration Centre (CAJAC), based in both Shanghai and Johannesburg.

The launch event was held this month in Johannesburg to coincide with the state visit to South Africa of the President of China. South Africa is the only African member of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa) economic alliance.

Jeremy Gauntlett SC of Brick Court Chambers is one of 20 arbitrators from Africa invited to be appointed to the shared panel of arbitrators for both Shanghai and Johannesburg. The process is fully administered, and will focus on commercial and investment disputes arising from China's burgeoning presence in Africa.
