Last port of call for vehicle shipping class action

On 15 January 2026 the Competition Appeal Tribunal approved a £54 million settlement between the Class Representative and remaining Defendants MOL and NYKK in opt-out collective proceedings against addressees of the European Commission’s 2018 infringement decision in Maritime Car Carriers.

Together with previous settlements with other shipping companies, the collective proceedings have recovered a total of £92.75 million on behalf of UK purchasers of motor vehicles. The proceedings will now proceed to the distribution stage.
