Simon Birt KC appointed as High Court Judge

Simon Birt KC has been appointed as a High Court Judge, with effect from 3 October 2025. The appointment was made by the King on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor. The Lady Chief Justice will assign him to the King’s Bench Division. He will be referred to as the Honourable Mr Justice Birt.

Simon was called to the Bar in 1998 when he joined Brick Court Chambers as a pupil, becoming a tenant in 1999. He took silk in 2015, and was appointed a Deputy High Court Judge in 2021.

Over the last 27 years Simon’s practice covered all aspects of commercial litigation and arbitration, including banking and financial services, insurance, civil fraud, professional negligence and shipping.
