Two new silks for Brick Court

Brick Court Chambers is delighted to announce that Fred Hobson and Richard Blakeley have been appointed King’s Counsel in the 2023 competition.

Fred Hobson (call 2005) specialises in complex commercial disputes. He is an experienced trial advocate who has acted in many of the most significant actions in the Commercial Court in recent years. He has a particular focus on banking and civil fraud. Fred has been recommended for several years in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 in which his peers have attested: "He's exceptionally good. Clients love him, his drafting is amazing and advocacy is really good." and “Fred is a talented advocate in his own right who also adds serious intellectual firepower to a multi-barrister team.”.  

Richard Blakeley (call 2007) is a commercial specialist with particular expertise in civil fraud, cross-border disputes, banking, and competition law and is frequently instructed in high value and substantial cases as lead/sole counsel or as part of a larger team. Richard has also been recommended for several years in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500, in which his peers attest to him as a “mega star for the future” who “has the ear of the court” and who “dismantles the other side’s case before the judge in a merciless fashion leading to conclusive wins.” Richard also has particular expertise in challenging and advising on EU and UK sanctions measures and has been instructed by a large number of banks, companies and individuals to challenge the sanctions imposed upon them both in the European Court of Justice and the Administrative Court.

Fred and Richard will be officially sworn in at the Appointments Ceremony on 18th March 2024.
