Two new tenants for Brick Court

Brick Court Chambers is delighted to announce that two new tenants will join chambers after completing pupillage in September. The new members of chambers are:

  • Gianna Seglias
  • Alexandra Breckenridge

Gianna Seglias commenced pupillage after working as a caseworker at a leading legal aid firm, where she was involved in a range of public law matters including judicial reviews related to unlawful detention and removal. Before this, she was a Bonavero Fellow at the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, where she assisted in the preparation of a communication to the International Criminal Court regarding the potential commission of international crimes against migrants in Libya. Gianna has acted as a research assistant in a number of public international law proceedings, including assisting the preparation of both written statements and oral submissions to the International Court of Justice in the Palestine Advisory Opinion. She holds an LLB (First Class) from University College London and a BCL (Distinction) from the University of Oxford and was awarded a number of prizes and scholarships during her studies, including two subject prizes on the BCL. After university, Gianna spent a year as a research assistant at the Law Commission of England and Wales. During pupillage, Gianna assisted on a range of matters spanning chambers’ areas of specialism, including advisory human rights work, commercial judicial review claims and collective competition proceedings in the financial and technology sectors. Gianna joins chambers in September 2025.

Alexandra Breckenridge graduated with summa cum laude honours from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar and double-majored in History and Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. She subsequently studied an accelerated Law degree at the University of Cambridge, graduating with double First-Class honours and placing first in her year in both Contract and Constitutional Law. During her legal studies, Alex was a Lord Bowen and Lord Mansfield Scholar of Lincoln's Inn. Before starting pupillage Alex taught Equity (the law of trusts and fiduciaries) to final-year students at St John's and Lucy Cavendish colleges at the University of Cambridge. She previously worked as a researcher in a public-interest law centre in her home city of Johannesburg, South Africa. During pupillage, Alex assisted on a range of commercial, public, and competition law disputes. She joins chambers in September 2025.
