Alexandra practises across Brick Court’s areas of expertise, with a particular focus on commercial and competition disputes. Her notable current and recent instructions include:

  • TNF Investments Limited and ors v Douglas Edelman and ors (2026) – acting for the Claimants in this claim in unlawful means conspiracy in the Commercial Court, brought against a former US military contractor and his associates (led by Craig Morrison KC and William Hooper).
  • INEOS v Athena Racing (2026) – acting for the Defendant, Athena Racing, in this high-profile claim relating to assets held for the purpose of competing in the America’s Cup sailing competition (led by Fionn Pilbrow KC and William Hooper). 
  • NBT v Shishkhanov (2026) – acting for the Claimant, NBT, in this c.US$2 billion civil fraud claim in the BVI brought by a bank against 35 Defendants, including its former owners and several significant commodities traders (as part of a team of juniors led by Paul McGrath KC and Nathan Pillow KC).
  • Consumers’ Association v Qualcomm (2025 - 2026) – acting for the Defendant, Qualcomm, on a team led by Daniel Jowell KC and Nicholas Saunders KC, in collective proceedings alleging an abuse of dominance. After trial, in early 2026, the class representative applied for permission to withdraw the proceedings. Led by David Bailey KC, Alex acted for Qualcomm in achieving the approval of the first ever settlement on a ‘drop hands’ basis under the collective proceedings regime in May 2026.
  • Stephan v Amazon and ACSO v Amazon (2026) – acting for the Defendant, Amazon, in collective proceedings brought on behalf of third-party sellers (Stephan) and proposed collective proceedings on behalf of customers (ACSO) (led by Daniel Piccinin KC and Kristina Lukacova).
  • Flynn and Pfizer v CMA [2024] CAT 65, [2025] CAT 12, Court of Appeal – acting for the CMA in this appeal from the CAT’s decision to remake the CMA’s findings of infringement and its imposition of penalties against Flynn and Pfizer for excessive pricing of anti-epileptic drugs (led by Josh Holmes KC, David Bailey KC and Jennifer MacLeod).

Before coming to the Bar, Alex taught Equity (the law of trusts and fiduciary obligations) to final-year Law students at the University of Cambridge. She also worked as a research assistant at Section27, a public-interest law centre in her home city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Alex holds a summa cum laude degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she double majored in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (“PPE”) and History. She later pursued an accelerated Law degree at the University of Cambridge, where she achieved double first-class honours and placed first in her year in both the Law of Contract and Constitutional Law.

    Alexandra accepts instructions across all areas of commercial litigation. Her recent experience includes:

    Alex also has significant experience of advisory work in commercial law, including:

    • Advising on the proper construction of a manufacturing contract and related issues under the White & Carter v McGregor line of authorities (led by Mark Howard KC).
    • Advising on issues relating to disclosure under PD 57AD (led by Mark Howard KC).
    • Advising on statutory construction issues under FSMA 2000 (led by James McClelland KC).
    • Advising on the merits of an application for a freezing injunction following an anticipatory breach of contract (as a pupil, assisting Craig Morrison KC).

    As a pupil, Alex assisted with a wide range of commercial disputes, including:

    • Palmali Shipping SA v Litasco SA [2025] EWHC 1149 (Comm) – acting for Litasco (the Swiss trading arm of the Russian energy giant, Lukoil) ahead of a six-week c.US$200 million Commercial Court trial of a claim brought for non-delivery of cargo under an alleged Contract of Affreightment (as a pupil, assisting Craig Morrison KC).
    • Thurrock Borough Council v Kavanagh and Rockfire Capital Ltd (2024) – acting for Thurrock Borough Council in this high-profile fraud claim arising out of the alleged misappropriation of c.£150 million of funds invested by the Council in bonds linked to solar energy parks (as a pupil, assisting Craig Morrison KC).
    • MCCF (UK) Ltd v British Polythene Industries Ltd (2024) – acting for the claimant, MCCF, in this three-week trial in the Commercial Court of a dispute over an unpaid “success fee” alleged to have become payable upon the sale of the then-public company, British Polythene Industries Ltd, in 2016 (as a pupil, assisting Craig Morrison KC).  The case settled shortly after the parties’ closing submissions.
    • Phones 4U v Telefonica and ors [2025] EWCA Civ 869 – acting for the intervener, the CMA, in this appeal from Roth J’s decision in Phones 4U v Telefonica [2023] EWHC 2826 (Ch), in which Phones 4U claimed that multiple mobile network operators and their parent companies colluded and/or engaged in tortious wrongdoing to bring about Phones 4U’s demise (as a pupil, assisting David Bailey KC).
    • Assensus v Wirsol (2024) – acting for the Defendant, Wirsol Energy Limited in a claim brought against this solar power developer by a former consultant for allegedly unpaid contractual bonuses (as a pupil, assisting Craig Morrison KC)
    • Milne v Bank of Scotland Plc (2024) – advising a borrower in defending an attempt to enforce security over loan facilities, in a case involving allegations of breaches of duties of good faith by the claimant bank (as a pupil, assisting Craig Morrison KC).
  • Competition M

    Alexandra accepts instructions in all areas of competition law. Her experience includes:

    • Consumers’ Association v Qualcomm (2025) – acting for the Defendant, Qualcomm, on a team led by Daniel Jowell KC and Nicholas Saunders KC, in collective proceedings alleging an abuse of dominance.     • Phones 4U v Telefonica and ors [2025] EWCA Civ 869 – acting for the intervener, the CMA, in this appeal from Roth J’s decision in Phones 4U v Telefonica [2023] EWHC 2826 (Ch), in which Phones 4U claimed that multiple mobile network operators and their parent companies colluded and/or engaged in tortious wrongdoing to bring about Phones 4U’s demise in 2014 (as a pupil, assisting David Bailey).

    • Inquest into the death of Ben Condon – acting for the family of Ben Condon in this three-week inquest into the death of a baby in hospital at the Bristol and Avon Coroner's Court (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).
    • Inquest into the death of Michelle Sparman – acting for the family of Michelle Sparman in this Article 2 inquest into the death of a mother of two in an inpatient psychiatric ward following alleged domestic abuse (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).
    • Cinven Capital Management and ors v CMA [2025] EWCA Civ 578 – acting for the CMA in this appeal arising out of the CMA’s decision on excessive pricing of tablets used to treat patients with thyroid hormone deficiencies. The appellants applied to adduce post-trial evidence on the basis that this evidence revealed a mistake of fact giving rise to an error of law (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod and David Bailey).
