Brick Court Chambers instructed in Charlie Gard appeal

02/05/17

An appeal to the Court of Appeal is being brought by the parents of Charlie Gard, a baby suffering from a rare mitochondrial disorder. Charlie cannot breathe unaided and relies on artificial ventilation to keep him alive.  On 11th April Great Ormond Street Hospital obtained a declaration from the High Court enabling the hospital to discontinue ventilation and which has the effect of preventing Charlie’s parents from arranging treatment in the USA.

Richard Gordon QC, Gerard Rothschild and Andrew McIntyre are instructed for the parents by Harris da Silva.
