The text of Sir Andrew's lecture is below. 

Jonathan Hirst QC (1953-2017) read law at Trinity College, Cambridge and was called to the Bar in 1975, taking silk in 1990.  In his career he appeared in a wide variety of commercial disputes and in every division of the High Court, including regular appearances before the Court of Appeal, House of Lords/Supreme Court and the Privy Council.  He also developed a significant practice as a commercial arbitrator.  He sat as a deputy High Court Judge in the London Commercial Court for 14 years and was a former Chairman of the Bar of England & Wales and Treasurer of the Inner Temple.  He was Joint Head of Brick Court Chambers from 2005 until 2016.
