International sanctions update in Cyprus

An internationally renowned panel of experts will discuss recent sanctions developments in the US, EU and UK, focusing on:

  • recent Russia designations by OFAC and their consequences;
  • navigating risks and compliance challenges of US secondary sanctions;
  • divergent US and EU approaches on Russia and Iran;
  • the EU position on sanctions on Russia and Ukraine and the dilemmas facing the EU and its Member States including Cyprus;
  • the impact of the withdrawal of the US from the JCPOA with Iran and EU blocking legislation;
  • licensing and enforcement;
  • possible remedies and avenues of redress for those affected by sanctions;
  • the implications of Brexit for sanctions regimes in the UK and its Overseas Territories: the Cayman Islands, BVI and Bermuda; and
  • the position of the Cyprus government and its competent authorities towards local enforcement of sanctions by credit and financial institutions.
