International Bankruptcy judgment

11/04/14

In a leading judgement today the bankruptcy court in London upheld a bankruptcy order in respect of a Russian citizen. The case demonstrates that the English bankruptcy jurisdiction may be available for the benefit and protection of people from abroad, especially where they have international business connections and an English Order would have utility, even if primarily in terms of investigation of assets.  A bankruptcy order was sustained in respect of Mr Vladimir Kekhman, the director of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg, and formerly a prominent figure in Russian business.

Michael Swainston QC was on behalf of Mr Kekhman.
