Danielle practises in commercial, competition and international law. She joined chambers in September 2023 following the successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Sarah Abram KC, Jennifer MacLeod and Edward Harrison.

Current work highlights include:

  • Alta Trading UK Limited (formerly known as Arcadia Petroleum Ltd) & others v Bosworth & others: acting for the Claimants in Commercial Court litigation concerning fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, conspiracy and dishonest assistance/knowing receipt, proceeding towards a 12-week trial (led by Fionn Pilbrow KC and David Heaton).
  • Acting for Glencore Plc in defending claims brought by shareholders pursuant to sections 90 and 90A of FSMA 2000 (led by Helen Davies KC and Tony Singla KC).

Danielle read law at Trinity College, Cambridge, where she graduated with a double first. She went on to obtain an LL.M focusing on conflict of laws, international litigation and arbitration from New York University School of Law.

Before commencing pupillage, Danielle was a judicial assistant to Mr Justice Calver in the Commercial Court. She was also a research assistant for the first supplement to the leading text on civil fraud, Civil Fraud: Law, Practice and Procedure (Sweet & Maxwell, 2022). Prior to this, she interned at the Hague Conference on Private International Law, working on the Choice of Court, Service and Evidence Conventions.

    Danielle accepts instructions across all areas of commercial law. Her recent experience includes:

    • Bonnier Books UK et al v Haysmacintyre LLP: defending proceedings in respect of an allegedly negligent audit seeking net sums lost in connection with the Claimants’ publishing business (as a pupil, assisting Edward Harrison)
    • Chowgule & Company Private Ltd & another v Shirke & others: (as a pupil, assisting Edward Harrison).
    • LCIA Arbitration: (as a pupil, assisting Edward Harrison).
    • Test Claimants in the Franked Investments Income Group Litigation: claims for the restitution of overpaid tax which had been unlawfully levied (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).

    Danielle accepts instructions across all areas of competition law. Her recent experience includes:

    • BMW v CMA: an expedited appeal to the CAT regarding the scope of the CMA’s powers to obtain documents outside of the jurisdiction (as a pupil, assisting Sarah Abram KC).
    • BMW Emissions litigation: proposed group litigation concerning alleged “defeat devices” (as a pupil, assisting Sarah Abram KC).
    • Litigation in respect of the Trucks cartel: (as a pupil, assisting Sarah Abram KC).
    • Allianz Global Investors & ors v HSBC & others: proceedings in relation to alleged collusion in foreign exchange trading (as a pupil, assisting Sarah Abram KC).
    • BSV Claims v Bittylicious & others: claims concerning alleged collusion between crypto-currency exchanges to delist the crypto-currency BSV (as a pupil, assisting Sarah Abram KC).
  • International/EU M

    Danielle accepts instructions across all areas of public international law. Her recent experience includes:

    • X v Russia (Human Rights Committee): communication concerning a human rights defender expelled from Russia for exercising rights to freedom of speech (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).
    • Republic of Mozambique v Credit Suisse International: Commercial Court litigation raising issues of immunity of Heads of State (as a pupil, assisting Ben Woolgar).

    • Darul Uloom School v The Secretary of State for Education: resisting the Trustees’ application to be released from undertakings offered to prevent the Secretary of State’s application to remove the school from the register (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).
    • O’Caroll v Meta: proceedings concerning the right to object to the processing of data for the purpose of digital marketing (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).
    • Test Claimants in the Franked Investments Income Group Litigation: claims for the restitution of overpaid tax which had been unlawfully levied (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).
    • Advising on the prospects of a judicial review in respect of data retention (as a pupil, assisting Jennifer MacLeod).
